JWES & TAHS National Anthem Sing-A-Long

Today marks the 210th anniversary of Francis Scott Key writing the poem “The Star-Spangled Banner” in 1814. This morning, our school community gathered together at the flagpole to honor that moment in history by singing our National Anthem.

We were joined by the Turner Ashby High School Chamber Singers, who began by performing the anthem beautifully on their own before stepping in among our students to sing alongside us. It was a powerful sight — older students leading the way, younger students proudly waving small flags, and so many of us dressed in red, white, and blue as we said the Pledge of Allegiance, observed our daily moment of silence, and lifted our voices together.

Below you’ll find a short video with music and a few pictures from this special morning. I hope it brings you the same joy and pride it gave us, and provides a little lift as you head into a wonderful weekend.
